While visiting my home town in South Carolina this weekend I ran into a mother of a young man I taught around 14 plus years ago. He was only about 8 years old at the time I taught him and was an awesome student. He was a purple belt when I sold the dojo and moved to NH. Well, he is now in his early 20’s and teaches martial arts at a local school.
I received an email from him within an hour of meeting his mother. Here is what he said:
“I just wanted to thank you for all that u taught me. It has made a
significant impact on who I am today ,also sets me apart from most of the
guys that I fight in mma . It seems none of them study to fight against
shotokan fighters lol. I’ve fought and won numerous grappling competitions , and im 1-0 in my mma career!
im fighting in Atlanta in may and myrtle beach at the house of blues in june. My goal is to go pro next year, and I can and will!
Hope all is going well for you! Hope to hear from you-kyle”
I am really grateful to be part of his martial arts journey. This is just another example of how fast time goes by.
Thank you Kyle – you taught me more than I could ever teach you.
